A Trail Trials is a judged competition on the trail using natural and man-made obstacles, judging the horse/rider combination on their performance under difficult situations they may find on a trail.

The National Trail Trials Program: 1) Provides a Standard Set Of Guidelines for the Corrals to use and 2) those riders that place in a trail trials held under our guidelines qualify for an ETI Invitational at the end of the year where the riders compete for great awards.

These competitions are great for novice and expert alike. They allow for schooling and excitement in a more controlled environment.

Trails Trials give you a chance to be out on your horse, seeing all sorts of terrain and encountering obstacles that are a part of trail riding. Below can be found many examples of the sort of things you might be tested on in a trail trial. These are not all inclusive but give you a good idea of what to expect.
